What is the cost of BHRT and prescription medication?

The cost of conventional (pharmaceutical) and bio-identical hormone therapy varies based on the number and volume of hormones prescribed. Many private health insurance plans cover the cost of hormone replacements and additional prescribed medications. The average person can expect to pay $70-150 per month for BHRT. The cost of the hormones is determined by the pharmacy and is not included in your assessment fees.

Is this covered by Alberta Health Care?

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy and Nurse Practitioner care is not an insured service through Alberta Healthcare. The patient is reponsible for the cost of the assessment and treatment themselves. Nurse Practitioner services are eligible expenses for Health Care Spending Accounts and through nursing services through most private healthcare services and for taxation purposes. This is similar to other professions such as physiotherapists and chiropractors. The cost of medically necessary laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging is covered through Alberta Health Care for Alberta residents.

Are appointments virtual or in-person?

Most clients can complete all assessments and treatments virtually in the comfort of your home or workplace. Occasionally, you will be asked to seek further assessment either at KVINDE clinic, or through a primary care provider close to you. All lab testing and diagnostic imaging is done through provincially provided locations (ie. dynalife labs, Alberta Precision labs, CDC diagnostics, Beam Radiology etc.). You will need to provide your requisition and Alberta Healthcare Card to gain access to these services free of charge.

Do I have to be an Alberta resident to seek care?

No. If you are from out of province, you may privately pay for your laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging and submit to your home province or private healthcare plan for potential reimbursement. You must physically be in Alberta at the time of all assessments, virtual or in-person, as determined by clinician license jurisdiction rules.
